KOA to past Jasper

We left Pipers Glen at 7:30 AM.  By 9:00 we were finished shopping at the Super WM in Prince George and fueled up.  The scenery to Jasper is beautiful.

We wanted to stay at Whistlers Campground, but it was booked (last big week-end of the summer).   We traveled on through to the KOA  about 50 more miles.  Very nice park.   We stayed 2 nights.
This KOA is 5 miles from the town of Hinton.   One of the lumber mills donated funds to build a wetlands for beavers.

Drove back into Jasper town for a while.

Just before the KOA is a Zip Line place.  Larry just had to try it & it was a kick (for him). I put the camera on burst &  turned them into a little video.
East of the KOA park there is a Beaver wetlands park

Travel day…….# 154 of the trip

Departed Hyder after going the 3.5 miles to Fish Creek viewing area.  No luck.  Departed and fueled up in Stewart – still raining – at noon.  We stopped at   Bear Glacier at M15 of the Stewart Hyder Access road.
Bear Glacier-3
As we traveled away from the coastline the weather conditions improved and was a little sunny by the time we reached the Cassiar.  We stopped for lunch somewhere  along side an Aspen grove.
Aspens-3
We stopped for the day 89 miles from Prince George.  We camped at Pipers Glen Campground at PG88. The sun had set, but still a little shining across the lake.  Nice park on a lake, but very low voltage.   Wi-Fi was available.

Day 84 Racing River Bridge to Watson Lake- Munco Lake

We are now far enough north that it doesn’t get dark – ever.  Light rain so we left and stopped at a pull out down the road to fix our breakfast.  We stopped at beautiful Muncho Lake and Laird Hot Springs.  Our end of day destination was Watson Lake

Day 83 Dry camped at MM DC 400.7 Racing River Bridge

We took Clark's RV; for a dry run back down the road to check the brakes and they seemed fine so we proceeded down the road.  The road today was 2 lanes, hilly and curvy.  Stopped for the day at a pull out just before the Racing River bridge.
We walked down a road along side the highway to a clearing and decided it was a good spot for dry camping just a few feet from the river.  It started raining during the night  so not much sleep.  Fortunately it was light and the ground was still solid.

Day 76 Cultas Lake to Williams Lake, BC

Left the beautiful Thousand Tails at 8:00AM.  Cloudy and around 55 degrees F. In Hope, did not correctly navigate the choice for Hwy 97, and chose Hwy 5  instead.  It was hard driving for Larry with so many steep up and downgrades plus being curvy in parts.  There was still snow on the ground in the high passes.  The rivers and streams were fast flowing from snow melt and rain.  In Kamloops we turned west to Cache Creek where we re-joined with Hwy 97.  Stopped for hamburger, then on to Williams Lake and stayed at the Stampede Campground.  Nice, we had 50 AMP. Free Wi-Fi, but I was a little far from the antenna as it  dropped out a lot.   Arrived about 3:30 PM.

Day 75 Cultus Lake, BC

We left our site at Birch Bay, WA about 10:30 AM.  After topping off the tank in Lynden, we crossed the border at Sumas, WA  at 11:37AM.  I was worried about meat, vegetables, dairy products, dog food, and were not questioned about any of it.  Not even the amount of alcoholic beverages.   More concerned about weapons.  We traveled on to the Thousand Trails Preserve at Cultas Lake,  It is BEAUTIFUL.  Of course clear skies and birds singing makes a difference over the past stops where it has been mostly raining. It is a cool breezy 75 degrees.    Beautiful tall trees in a mountain valley.  The lake is large & beautiful.

Waterton National Park

From David Thompson Resort we traveled south and stayed a few days in Canmore, BC.
We then traveled to Lethbridge, BC where there is a nice RPI park. While there, we drove over to Waterton NP on the Canada side. It was sunny until we got there....
From the town there is a 10 mile road to Cameron Lake which we found to be so serene.
The very end of the lake is on the US side
