2018 12 Medina Lake
First time out in a while......been busy remodeling house.
We always enjoyed New Year's eve at Thousand Trails....Only a little over an hour from home. The weather was pretty good considering the lime of year. Met some nice couples.
The lake was full as evidenced by the photos taken just above the dam. A stark contrast to the drought blog photos taken in January 2012.

Ski Apache Zip Line, Ruidoso, NM
We arrived around 8:00 AM for tickets, etc. We watched a video, got suited up, and a quick lesson. The rollers for the line were in out backpack.
We rode the gondola up to the end of the line, then a 4 wheeler took us higher to the platform. It was sunny, but dark clouds were in the distance. Only 3 maybe 4 couples got to go. The others had to go back down the mountain. We arrived at the first stop only to have to wait in cold little cabin while the storm blew over. Instead of going on the next leg down, they took us back up to the top on a very bumpy truck ride. So we did the longest leg again. Weather coming in again.....they hurried us on to the next leg. By that time, it was getting close to 2:00 PM., and we were hungry. We decided to be shuttled down the rest of the way rather than wait for the weather to pass. So we did not get to do the last leg, but did the first one twice.

Monjeau Fire Lookout Tower

Late one afternoon, we decided to drive up to Monjeau since we had not in several years. The devastation from the Little Bear fire was so sad to see,

Stayed home this winter
Soon it will be time to leave for Ruidoso, to be there may 15th. Larry did get the last section of fence built & it looks great – especially the double gate.
Every measurement has to be exact so it is not a quick job.
After that he will see about getting an HD roof mount receiver for the RV, and probably look into replacing the little washer.....it is getting tired.
I am going to get back into soap making. There was no such thing as the internet when I last made it. I am looking into hot process goat milk....keeping it from getting too hot will be the challenge.
November through February we spent a lot of time with our neighbor who was in the final stages of cancer. The new HD SWM dish on top of the RV is done. All wires are run inside. He has been wanting a 22” for the bedroom. Since they seem to be getting scarce, we decided to get one before they are no longer available. He worked several days re-doing the cabinet where the old TV was. Now we have an extra shelf! He designed and built the metal bracket (that is hidden in the finished product) to slide back and forth a little so it won’t be out in the room quite so much.

We will be visiting grandkiddos for several days this weekend.
I have indeed gotten into making (lots of) goat milk soap and having so much fun with it. My skin loves it.

Home Again
Arrived home safely after visiting grandchildren for a few days. We had a different site this year.....
We went on a flower buying binge and enjoyed them very much. We had a really cozy patio area.
The rains started July 1 and after several weeks the green started to come back.
We made a quick trip home in June for Grandson Joshua's graduation.

Back to Ruidoso
Left home on the 26th and stopped off a few days to visit family before leaving for the summer.
Drove to Fort Stockton yesterday, and stayed at Hilltop RV. Very nice. No discounts, but rate is already less than with one. Another beautiful sunset.
Arrived today 10:20 MST & got mostly all set up. Most of the permanent residents already here.
Waiting a bit to put up the canopies as it is windy. Sure sounds nice blowing through the pine trees.
The park is booked all summer so we will be busy.

Short Trip
Our short trip is almost over. Going home tomorrow. Mikki is doing so good, and has forgotten she ever had that knee surgery. Staples come out on Thursday.
I spent a few days with daughter Dawn shopping and just hanging out, as she is not far from our campground near Willis, TX.
Our next trip will be a long one this year to Ruidoso, arriving May 1st.

Mikki Surgery
Today, Mikki had knee surgery to repair her displaced knee cap and torn ligaments. A week ago, she was jumping as usual and must have landed wrong. After a week, our vet recommended we take her to a specialist hospital.

Bandera Mardi Gras
Met up with 4 other couples we met in Ruidoso to attend the parade in Bandera this past Saturday. Stayed at Buckhorn Lake Resort north of Kerrville,TX as all parks in Bandera were booked. Took the bus to Bandera……they started and finished with jello shots. Sunday was buy a slab of ribs and pot luck for the rest for the Super Bowl game. If you have never stayed at Buckhorn, you are missing out on a first class RV park.
